Research indicates that as much as 30% of the money spent on
healthcare goes to unnecessary or inappropriate services. With HWI's
self-care and consumer education programs, participants will receive the
information they need to take better care of themselves and make
informed treatment decisions. Each of these programs teaches
participants how to stay healthy and save money by properly navigating
the healthcare system and practicing medical self-care.
- Wellness 101SM – Online/Video
– HWI’s latest entry into the self-directed channel, Wellness 101, is
designed to strengthen employers’ new or existing wellness initiatives
by building a foundation of health awareness and personal
self-responsibility at the individual level. The program – which
functions like the CBT modules that many employers use for new hire
orientation and trainings for topics such as ethics and workplace safety
– delivers health promotion messaging in an accessible online video
format and is an ideal way for an employer to emphasize the importance
of wellness and self-responsibility. The video content of Wellness 101
lasts about 15 minutes, and is followed by a brief quiz to test
participant knowledge and reinforce the lessons conveyed during the
program.
Take Charge of Your Health – Onsite
– This 45-minute workshop teaches participants how to engage in the
three pillars of good health—prevention, early detection, and early
intervention. Health Educators will empower participants with reliable
health information they can use to make better healthcare decisions.
Each participant will also receive a free copy of the Healthwise®
Handbook to take with them when they leave the workshop. This 354-page
guide is packed with information on how to address many common ailments
and injuries safely at home or at work.
