The Health & Wellness Institute Launches as a for-profit Limited Liability Corporation

January 2, 2007 (Providence, RI) - Today The Health & Wellness Institute (HWI) announces its designation as a for profit limited liability corporation. With this new status, HWI is now able to work directly with health plans and employer groups nationwide while continuing to serve the people of Rhode Island through its client Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

 

The Providence, RI headquartered Health & Wellness Institute is a health management solutions company with a mission to reduce risk, improve health and enhance productivity by delivering effective, innovative and comprehensive prevention-oriented programs and services. Led by nationally recognized wellness expert Michael H. Samuelson, HWI has a staff of approximately 50 which includes clinical and public health professionals with training in behavior modification and health education, as well as personnel with expertise in social marketing, product development, and information technology.

Assisting Mr. Samuelson in leading HWI will be Chief Operating Officer, Eileen K. Meehan and Chief Innovation Officer, William C. Dukes. With an MBA from The University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business and more than a decade of experience in mergers and acquisitions, Ms. Meehan will oversee strategic operations for the company. With a rich background in art and technology, Mr. Dukes will apply his many years of experience in the health and technology industry to lead the design and development of all products and services. "We have worked very hard to launch The Health & Wellness Institute," said COO Meehan. "In addition to our Rhode Island-based book of business, we have already developed out of state partnerships and have a very promising pipeline of prospects," she added.
