Back Care

Back injuries and back pain affect 90% of American adults at some point in their life, and rank first among workplace injuries and disability claims. However, the vast majority of these injuries can be prevented with the proper lifting techniques and ergonomic safety. With the information and suggestions in HWI's back care programs, participants can protect themselves from injury and enjoy an active and healthy future, whether they’re on the job or off the clock.

 

 

  • Stand Up for Your Back®Onsite – Back injuries are some of the most common injuries both on and off the job, leading to reduced productivity and increased healthcare costs for employers. Stand Up For Your Back is an interactive, group lecture that emphasizes the prevention of back injuries through proper lifting techniques, posture, and exercise. Participants will learn about the anatomy of the back, common types of back injuries, and steps to prevent back injuries on the job, at home, or at play.  Stand Up For Your Back is available as a 60- or 75-minute program. The 75-minute program includes a 15-minute exercise component that teaches simple techniques to stretch and strengthen the back.

 

  • i choose to live healthy®: back care – Online and DVD – The i choose to live healthy: back care program will help individuals strengthen their back, increase their flexibility, and show them how to prevent injuries with safe lifting techniques and proper posture. The videos featured in the program focus on real scenarios and provide practical recommendations for preventing back injuries during work and leisure time. Extras include exercise tips to help participants maintain a healthy back.
